1st Day of Kindergarten!!
Today was it! The first day of Kindergarten! The day that when you have a newborn people say "Don't blink because before you know it he will be going to Kindergarten!" It's true, oh so very very true! Our baby is now a big boy and was all smiles and excitement today! He woke at 5:50am and asked if it was time. I had only been up for about 5 minutes myself and in my mind I wanted the clock to slow WAY down and he wanted the clock to speed WAY up! Our morning routine was smooth and he humored us by taking a million pictures. Off to school we went. L made it a point to be home and to be with Luke on his special and milestone day. Our team of three confidently walked in the school and down the hall. Luke walked right in, was quickly greeted and praised by his teacher and then he turned to us. We told him to have a great day and that we loved him and we walked out. We made it all the way to the car before yours truly cried. A huge success for those who know how very easily I cry. I cried tears of joy and tears of sadness. He is ready! He is smart, he is kind, he understands that everyone is different and those differences should be celebrated. He is eager and curious, I am so excited for him and proud of him! I am also sad. He has been my constant sidekick for 5 years...that is going to take a while to get use to. He is still young, and naïve, and impressionable, and innocent. It is a great big world out there and my job thus far has been to completely and strongly protect him. I am losing a bit of that and it is a scary. He will be fine, he will be more than fine and I am proud of who he is and the job L and I have done so far. He is a fantastic kid and he is going to move mountains! Welcome to Kindergarten!!
