Maybe it is because we are moving soon or maybe it is because this is Luke's first home but I am getting very sentimental about our time here at Arrowhead. This house is beautiful, the grounds are beyond gorgeous, and our little town is fantastic. Today Luke, Riggs, and I spent what I consider to be a typical day at our little slice of heaven. No exaggerations...this is really what happened....it could be a movie script...rated G...Little House on the Prairie-esque (that is a shout out to you Irene!). Here goes:
1. Phone rings at 6:45am (we don't mind...we are all up anyway). It is Sheila from the AC company apologizing for not being able to fix our AC yesterday...would it be okay if Tom comes out now to fix it. No problem.
2. Tom arrives at 7am. He remembers my name, the dog's name, and Luke's name from the day before. He works quietly and efficiently. I offer him some water...he accepts and tells me I have a beautiful home and family. No arguement here.
3. Luke and I play with puzzles and stuffed animals before heading out on some errands.
4. We stop at the post office first. As mentioned in a previous post our post office is the first floor of someone's house. The postlady lets Luke sit on the counter and play with the stuffed postbear while I buy stamps. "Have a fantastic June day!" she says. "You too" we reply.
5. Then off to the Goodwill to make a donation. The man helping me..."No need for you to be carrying a baby and all this stuff ma'am." He gives me a receipt and tells me..."If I was a woman I would definitely wear skirts in the summer too." Strange, quirky, and a slightly creepy comment but still a good soul.
6. Off to the bank...I went through the drivethru today. Miss Cindy waited on me. She asked if I had any "helpers" today..."canine or otherwise". I told her that I had a baby helper but he was underage as far as lollipops are concerned and that the canine was at home. When my receipt came zooming through the tube inside was a dog treat.
7. Snack time on the porch watching our fountain and fish jump.
8. A sunny walk with Luke and Riggs where we meet up with our neighbor Tracy and her little guy Quinn. Quinn and Luke giggle at each other and Tracy and I chat about the move, naptimes, her horses, and which local playground is better.
9. Home for lunch and afternoon fun with trucks, bubbles, and toys that make noise.
10. Naptime. Enough said.
11. Snacktime and grasstime. We watched a blue heron stalk a fish (unsucessfully) and 3 water trucks come and go - 2 drivers waved and one honked his big truck horn.
12. Late afternoon walk. We got passed by two horse and buggies while I repeated "clippity clop" over and over and Luke squealed. Our Amish neighbors humor us by waving furiously as they go by. We also passed the horse pasture where Riggs got his daily kiss from one of the little ponies. This is the same pony that delivered 55 ears of corn to me after I had Luke. It was our baby gift...and it was one of the best!!
13. Home to wait for Daddy. We saw a mommy duck and her 11 babies waddle around the hatchery for a while and then we watched the kids next door on their scooters.
14. Dinner as a family while listening to La Bamba...one of Luke's current favorites.
15. Operation family cleanup dinner and dance party. Luke can really shake his booty.
16. Bath
17. Bed. Enough said.
Nothing fancy but oh so good!
