Bits and Pieces

Just wanted to say that we are all alive and well and enjoying endless sunshine!  Life is on the move and we are holding on tight...we are busy, as usual, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  Here are just a few items of interest in the Tully world.

1. I spent last weekend in New York with the lovely Whittemore family.  They have settled wonderfully into the new parent role and their brand new daughter, Kieran, is gorgeous.  I mean GORGEOUS!  I had a fantastic time and everyday since I have been back I have wished we lived a whole lot closer!

2. Luke now says thank you ("tank you") and you're welcome ("you're elcome").  He has been saying thank you for a while but now he says them both...together...no separation...no recognition that different people say different phrases during a transaction.  I hand him an apple and he says "tank you, you're elcome Mommy!"

3. Our neighbor's very cute dog just had very, VERY cute puppies!  L has told me more than once, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!"

4. I am on a new recipe kick...mostly involving the crockpot and no recipes.  I am all about just dumping a bunch of ingredients in there and crossing my fingers.  So far so good...Monday night I will attempt a whole chicken.

5. I just scored 4 1/2 Mr. Potato heads (the 1/2 equals the elusive baby potato head) for free!  Luke is in love and creates "mommy", "daddy", "yuke (Luke - still questioning why we gave him an "L" name)", "riggs", and "mia" (maria - the babysitter) potato heads daily!  Thank you Becky!

6. It is hot.  Yes, again.  It is hot.  It has been in the mid-80s for the past two weeks.  Apparently winter is over...I kind of think I missed it.  I did wear long sleeves about 7 times.  Our neighbor, a native Floridian, said that it was a really cold winter.  Say what?  I asked a friend of mine a few days ago, she is also a native Floridian (they do exist), whether or not she thought we would have another chilly streak before spring arrived.  Her response:  This IS spring.  There you have it...I will be hot for the next 8.5 months.

7. Luke can say the alphabet.  That's right.  I am bragging.  D and E usually don't get a mention and the usual L M N O P is difficult but it is there and it is awesome!  He also can count to 15 (it's my blog, I will brag if I want to).  Most of the enthusiasm falls with number 14.  I have no idea why.

8.  Luke is a climbing machine.  I found him standing on the windowsill yesterday and L noticed him sitting cross-legged on our glass top coffee table.  Things are getting interesting.

9. Riggs is eating new food.  He just stopped eating his usual stuff (stuff we have been giving him for 4 years). His tastebuds are apparently evolving.  I simply gave him something different and he scarfed it right up.  I can't blame him...I would need a change after 4 years of eating the same thing everyday.  That and he has been watching Top Chef with L and I.  He knows there are better options out there.

10. L and I witnessed a funny/cute/hillbilly site last night.  Date night.  Seafood restaurant.  90 minute wait.  Hank Williams Sr. -esque guitar player keeping the crowd (L and I were the youngest people there by a good 35 years) happy.  A song that I had never heard starts up and people start dancing.  It was like I was watching Grease...about 10 or 12 people all stood up and started doing the SAME dance!  It was unbelievable.  Some sort of polka involving a barrel being rolled.  One lady, no joke, handed her beer to her husband..stood up...grabbed her walker...and busted a pretty serious move!  Awesome.
