Here are the lessons I have learned so far:
1. "Schedule" is currently a bad word. I have learned to never use it because once you do it is no longer valid. Every day is different (in our case completely different) and you really have to be able to roll with the punches. We are an adaptable species thank goodness so we are making it by not setting expectations for the day ahead.
2. L is a much better burper than I am (I am not speaking about our personal abilities...I would like to think I can give him a run for his money but then again he can belch on command and I do not have that particular skill). L can burp LL like nobody's business. He is like the "burping whisperer." I don't know how he does it but as soon as he sits LL up and gives just one or two taps on the back the little man lets out a belch that could rival that of a frat boy or truck driver. Very impressive!
3. LL does like to be read to but I have discovered that it does not matter in the least what the subject matter is. He is just as content to listen to what type of jeans look best on which body types as he is to hear about Elmo's great adventure. I witnessed L reading Car and Driver to LL the other day...he seemed very interested.
4. Projectile vomit/spit up is a real thing. It is terrifying and amazing all at the same time. First and foremost it is terrifying...why is my little one throwing up such a large amount of food at such a fast rate? It is a scary scary sight (that thankfully has not happened often). It is also kind of amazing that such a little being can emit vomit at those speeds and reaching huge distances. Seriously, LL had an episode where the vomit landed over a foot away. Shock then terror then relief when he falls asleep within minutes of the drama.
5. We currently measure our success as parents by the number of outfits LL wears in a given day. I would like to give us both a pat on the back because yesterday and today have been "one daytime outfit/1 nighttime outfit" days. However, just a week ago we had a 6 outfit daytime and a 3 outfit nighttime (not our proudest moment).
6. My, without a doubt, favorite thing about my days with LL is bathtime. I love to bathe our little man because he seems so calm and so observant. He watches my every move and seems to listen very intently as I talk about what is going on. He especially loves to have his hair washed which I can totally understand because that is my favorite part about going to the hair salon. He just melts me with those big blue eyes at bath time and I cherish it. (Obviously he is currently loving bathtime so when that changes - see lesson number 1 - I am sure I will have a new favorite thing about my days with LL but until then you can't beat it!)
