L and I have returned from a lovely weekend in upstate New York. A place where the snow piles are taller than I am and when your hosts say bring boots they do not mean the suede kind with pointed toes and kitten heels...this is the real deal! We spent our weekend with the Whittemores and we had a blast!
This is the boys in all their serious-ness living their childhood dreams!
Saturday morning we planned our chowder attack for Saratoga Springs' annual Chowderfest. What a delicious, fun, and freezing way to spend a Saturday. We wandered all around town sampling chowder after chowder and discussing each as if we knew something about the culinary expertise involved. I have discovered that I am a classic chowder fan...you know...creamy, full of seafood, the kind that sticks to your insides. Katie on the other hand is more adventurous and thinks outside the box - going for the buffalo chicken chowder with a topping of crunchy tortilla goodness. Her choice does sound better in print...I will give you that! Anyway, when our stomachs and our exposed skin couldn't take it anymore we headed back to the lovely Whittemore residence.
This was my favorite - can you tell?! Seafood Chowder (nothing fancy...just good).
Katie and I enjoying some chowder...actually this was my least favorite but I know what to do when there is a camera around!
Saturday evening Katie made another delicious meal, after which the boys retreated immediately to rock band central. Katie and Scott's friends Mike and Mary arrived later for game night! Team Tully is big into game nights so it was perfect. We played Apples to Apples and Katie was a terrible hostess by winning the very first game! When we were all appled out everyone tried their hand at Blockus. Blockus is L and my newest love. The whole evening was a lot of fun! Great food, great laughs, and most of all great people!
L got rid of all of his pieces! For those of you who have played Blockus know what a feat that is!
Sunday morning brought us pancakes and goodbyes. What a fabulous weekend! We had a wonderful time and we thank the Whittemore's again for their hospitality!
