Those of you who know me well know of my intense fear, hatred, panic, and somewhat overdramatic emotions surrounding dentists. For as long as I can remember I have shed tears over the mere thought of an upcoming appointment. Yes, I am 29 years old and cry about going to the dentist. To make myself sound even more pathetic...I have yet to have any major dental work done. Just your basic cleaning, nothing else. So, if you are thinking I have nothing to whine about your are absolutely right, but I do anyway.
Thursday night was no different, I shed a tear or two and expressed my anxiety with L about my appointment the next day. L reassured me that this dentist is great and that I would love it. He had been previously for some dental work of his own. I knew he was trying to calm me down, but I didn't believe a word he said.
Well, I survived my dentist appointment. Passed with flying colors. I wouldn't say I loved it but it was one of the best, if not THE best dental experience ever. (Except for that one appointment -or lack there of -when I was in middle school. Remember that mom?!) The people were lovely, the rooms clean, and ...... a TV for every dental chair. Not just a TV off in the upper corner of the room where no one can really see it well, but a TV right above my face. When the hygentist moved the overhead light so she could see my pearly whites along came the TV - attached - for the ultimate in viewing pleasure. To make it even better I had total control over the remote...Direct TV. I watched a little of the Today Show and a little of the Bonnie Hunt Show. All the while the lady was picking, proding, brushing, and flossing. I am not saying I didn't notice it, but I was a little preoccupied with the Today Show's ambush makeovers. Ahhhh, a somewhat relaxing dentist appointment - I didn't think it was possible.
Side note: once again I was reprimanded for not flossing well enough and often enough. I get it. I am completely aware of my laziness in the flossing world. L on the other hand is a religious flosser and because of his supreme dental hygiene he will be in charge of the oral care for our little one.
