From what feels like the longest month of the year to the shortest. February came and went quickly and we filled it with family, friends, new sports, fun events, and travel.
The fellas. Nothing like a lakeside firepit. One of Luke's buddies hosted a BYOS dinner. Bring Your Own Steak. Such a great idea!
I headed to PA for a very quick trip that was so good for the soul. I got to see Mit and Molly and the kids and had a great time. Mit and I wandered along the Delaware River for hours in some pretty brisk weather but we didn't mind because the time together is priceless.
Our heart-shaped pizza didn't happen exactly on Valentine's Day but it did happen. A very strong and delicious tradition.
More college tours for Luke! Crazy to think that we are in this season and by this time next year he may be finding out and decided on where to go. Time flies.
The last of the relay trifecta (26.2miles, 40 miles, 100k)! A 100 kilometer race from one dam to another through tiny towns and farmland. This one requires some training and some prep work because it is SO hilly! Teams of six. Two legs each. 100k. It is such a fantastic way to spend a Saturday. It was also the rainiest day of the month. No one was spared. We all got SOAKED. Soaked to the point of multiple full outfit and shoe changes. It required some serious grit and motivation but that is what teammates are for. What a day! This is us at the start line (note, the start and finish lines were the only dry spots)
L always does this relay too! Here is his team. We got to see them a couple of times at exchange zones so that was fun
What most of the course looks like. Very pretty!
I ran my second leg faster than I, or my team, thought I would and I had to go searching for them in the parking lot. Ha! I don't blame them - they were trying to stay dry. So here is the haphazard wristband handoff to the next runner in the parking lot off the course. Hilarious.
Finish line photo. I find this hilarious. Please do not be fooled by the sunny and blue skies. It makes it seem like it was a lovely day...It Was Not. The sun came out for about 15 minutes after everyone was done with the race. I guess a little reward for doing the dam thing ;-)
The boys
Luke is playing lacrosse. A brand new sport for him and for us. We are all learning together but he is having a great time and I think it might be my favorite sport to spectate. It is so fast-paced and very little downtime. Luke is in white, at the 50 yard line with the ball. He is doing great!
I was invited to a "Nowhere to Wear It" party. As many of you know I am kind of a minimalist and so I don't really have anything that I don't wear regularly. So, I borrowed a friend's prom dress! The party goers were mostly my running friends and since they only really see me at 5am in running attire I paired my sparkly prom dress with my running shoes so they would know who I was.
Such a fun night!
L led a field trip with this Structural Geology students. They lucked out with weather and learned and laughed a lot.
Luke had a huge adventure and went to Seattle for a Pokémon tournament! He has never flown without L or I before but he and his good friend, B headed out west for the weekend. They had a great time and did really well! Luke was very pleased with how he finished and even came home with some prizing. They had great time and Luke was a trooper taking a redeye home and going right to school and then a lacrosse game that night. No rest for the weary.
These next three photos are all technically from March but I just wanted to take up a little bit of space for the wonder and beauty of the sky...
On one of my early morning runs with the girls we were lucky enough to witness the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket go by! Isn't that the coolest?! Amazing!
Just the most amazing thing
And a gorgeous sunset (photos don't do it justice) over a lacrosse game
Awe and Wonder - Two of my favorite things.
