I try very hard not to wish time away or wish for it to hurry up but man, oh man, is January a loooonnnngg month! Wow. For us it was a slow start, a busy and full middle, and a slow end. But we made it and we enjoyed it and I still need to do a better job of photo-documenting but here you go....January 2026.
One of my dear friends was in town for all things dance. Lisa and I are great friends and we also live in very different worlds. I love hearing about her busy and glitter-filled life and I think she enjoys my tales of hiking in the woods and trying to get my kid to keep his fish bait container clean. (Also, please note that it was 85 degrees on this Saturday in early January - you will want to refer back to this pic later)
We enjoyed a Saturday wandering around downtown, checking out a new park, window shopping, eating tacos and ....
... we just happened to be downtown when the monks, doing their Walk for Peace, came through the capital. They are on their journey walking from Fort Worth, TX to Washington DC. It was a lovely thing to watch. The streets were packed with peaceful protesters and those just there to witness such a beautiful and silent act of unity, love, and peace.
Speaking of unity and love, I went to a wedding with this handsome guy to celebrate the wedding of one of our co-workers. Rob was a wonderful +1 and we had a great time with our office mates at the beautiful wedding.
Luke and the fellas! Gosh this crew could not be made up of better humans. Love this group of guys!
My least competitive and my most favorite relay of the year! I love this race so much because it is run by one of my good friends, I am on a team of ladies who just want to move and have fun, and we laugh SO much! Here is our freezing cold start line photo - I have the least amount of clothes on because I had the first leg. This race starts in Norway, then to Sweden, then Denmark, then Finland and ending up back in Norway for the finish line. Forty miles of wandering through our own little Scandinavia. Gosh, I love it so much!
Just such a fun way to spend a Saturday morning! And the company is priceless! Very thankful for my running pals.
We had a snow day! Snow in the South is really something to celebrate. Also, we don't know how to handle it, also life pretty much shuts down until it melts. It's chaotic and fun and so so beautiful! The very limited number of plows in the state focus on interstates so no secondary roads and certainly no neighborhoods get plowed. It makes for days of pristine white conditions and limited travel. Just gorgeous! (Please refer to first photo of this post - an 85 degree Saturday to this 12 degree Saturday - same month! Weather in the south is WILD)
Jasper was living his absolute best life! He cannot get enough of the snow and despite it being below freezing for days on end I was happy to accompany him into the woods many times. My happy place.
This guy was also living his best life! He and the neighborhood boys only came inside to eat, otherwise they made the very most of this rare weather occurrence and had a blast!
So cool! This ice patch looks like the cross section of an ooid. IYKYK
