Our 5th volume. Our 5th volume of life in a strange strange world. Doesn't it seem crazy that this is still our reality?! Crazy. But here we are. Doing our part to right things, to get things back on course, to keep ourselves and others safe and healthy. We live in a bit of a bubble...full of the GREAT outdoors, a small circle of friends and family, face masks, family breakfasts/lunches/dinners, board games, struggles, documentaries, the piano, fishing, simplicity, ease, calm, routine, learning, growing, gratefulness. It's our 2020 bubble and we are okay, we are surviving and at times thriving.
A yard sale wagon and three creative minds. Summer fun at its finest!
I do believe we have played every single game we own at least once...some many times.
I will remember this summer as the summer of fishing and piano playing! This kid does both nearly every single day...the piano for sure! He has taught himself over half a dozen songs...songs that matter to him and I am so impressed by his patience and determination to make beautiful music. He brought a snack to the piano on this particular day - apparently peppers and cherries are a musician's fuel.
Hope
We are still learning and teaching throughout all of this. Newtons' laws of motion in action.
A masked trip to the zoo for my little guy and me
We retreated to the mountains for heat relief and loved every second of it! Chilly creek swimming and fishing, fire cooked meals, waterfall hikes, and memories...you can't beat it!
Our campsite had some pig neighbors
These two were in charge of fire building each evening! They loved the responsibility and did a great job!
Zoom in to see the kiddos scaling the waterfall
An early morning hike in the woods
So, in the middle of nowhere we found a drive thru safari of sorts. Pay by the car and for a bucket of feed. Such a perfect covid activity! So HILARIOUS! We laughed harder than we have in months. So Fun!
I mean!!! There's a camel in the car, a camel!
The emus were not shy
Nor were the zebras!
We did some snake-sitting for a friend! Frostbite the snake is welcome here anytime, such a great houseguest!
Ahhhhh....the Bochat Family! How we LOVE the Bochat family! No longer next door neighbors but forever friends! We had a short but wonderful visit with our dear friends who fill us with so much love and joy. And as always - the Luke/Mallory relationship continues to be beyond special. They share a bond that none of us can explain...the very best of friends!
My dear Erin...younger than me by many years but such a role model in my life! Love you, friend!

The rest of us are obviously ageless
Luke and the cutest little lady in all the land! Sweet Evelyn! She is such a sweet kiddo and had us laughing all afternoon. I love our TIME with her!
Luke had Evelyn in his lap so this is Lando getting in on the lap action!
Luke brought some cars for Evelyn and was teaching her the siren sounds :-) I think she could sit in his lap all day!
Like I mentioned this will be known as the summer of piano playing and fishing. Luke fishes nearly every single day! He often heads down to the neighborhood creek in the morning and comes home a few hours later with his fresh caught lunch! He fishes at the creek, he fishes at the lake, and of course whenever we are in HH he is in his fishing glory with Sheshy! I know my dad loves the little fisherman in Luke but I also know that Pop would just adore the sight of this kiddo walking down the street with a pole and tacklebox. The ordinary is the extraordinary!
Summer learning continues with a flower dissection!
So, this summer has been odd. It has been fantastic. It has been simple. It has been hard. I think our current situation, the world's current situation, has made us look at life a little differently and what a wonderful thing that is. Humility at its finest.
