Summer is always a busy time of year but it seems like it is more so this year than any other. I do believe we have a nice balance of travel and activities and lazy days at home going on and I am thankful for that. I love the summer because Luke is fun and funny and we get to do lots of great things together!
Before the Yellowstone trip Mit turned old. Luke and I created VERY homemade (read; the icing melted and it looked awful...delicious though) cakes to celebrate. (also, again I am terrible about having cake candles on hand...candlestick to the rescue yet again.)
Lego kids
Mit and Luke versus Ima and Jeffrey in a Lego team building challenge
This was a day and a half after their return from Yellowstone. Ha! All that hiking and fresh air made for an exhausted Luke.
A birthday celebration with our buddies!
The three Musketeers!
The requested 7th birthday cake - Pikachu
Back to HH to get a little last minute cousin time in for boys and girls! Yay!
Three little golfers
Bedtime books. Speaking of bedtime - Ima and Sheshy slept VERY well after spending 12 days with some or all of their grandchildren!!
Luke and his favorite kayaking partner!
Out exploring on their own. Roots and wings.
A day at the science museum
Quiet time. Love!
A quick trip to HH to see Aunt Daney and James and to meet their dear friends, Lindsay and Matt...Lindsay will be a bridesmaid in the wedding and Matt will be the officiant. How is that for a husband and wife duo?! This is Luke and Daney inspecting his golf bag - a favorite activity - and Daney is pretty much a golf pro so who better than to "organize" with.
Checking on Luke's adopted sea turtle nest....the eggs should be hatching any day!!!
Luke caught this nearly 3 foot shark!! Seriously!
This photo cracks me up! Luke and Matt (who he met less than 24 hours before) out on the deck having a very adult conversation about golf and golf clubs and why there is such thing as a nine wood. Hilarious!
A super cool birthday gift from a super cool family! Luke made his very own lava lamp! Groovy ;-)
A solar kit from Ima and Sheshy - we burnt feathers, burnt foam, and melted plastic. Super cool!
See the smoke?! The power of the sun!
Love. We like to watch Wheel of Fortune in the evenings and I always get so nervous for the competitors in the final round. Luke held my hand so "you don't get so nervous, Mommy." Love this kid!
A fun day with fantastic friends! Grape geometry
The days are hot so we get creative. I bought some cheap electronics from goodwill, gave the boys screwdrivers and let them have a blast disassembling the electronics. They loved it! We talked about the cool innards and then they tried to make new things out of the parts. Luke made a pizza cutter. Hot day fun!
Perhaps not normal but super cute!
Again, the days are hot. So....we made a family miniature golf course in the bedroom. Each of us created a hole and we played a few rounds. :-)
Moms Day Out on the lake. Great weather, great food, and more than great friends!!! An afternoon well spent!
Laughter all afternoon!
A library day
Luke's idea...yanking a loose tooth out by tying floss to his tooth and his remote controlled truck. Unsuccessful. Notice Jed's look of concern. Ha!
Summer science. Gravity versus magnetism. In this case...magnetism for the win!
This kid is 5!!!! Luke and I got to spend a few hours with James doing all of his favorite things to celebrate his birthday.
Two of the biggest Star Wars fans I know. :-)
