Here is our Easter post (better late than never!) :) Team Tully had a fabulous time in WV with Granny and Papaw and the whole Tully clan. We were thrilled to get to see everyone and thanks again to Uncle Kenny for the cars and Aunt Misty and Uncle Russ for the books - Luke still asks for "Misty's book" daily! We love it all! You are all so kind and generous and Luke is lucky to have such a fantastic family!! The Easter Bunny did an amazing job with Luke's easter basket...I couldn't have done better myself and to be honest I am so glad I didn't have to! :) What a fantastic getaway full of fun and family.
Here are the highlights:
- The cats. One in particular, Nugget. Luke was beyond obsessed with Nugget. As soon as he had his juice in the morning he wanted to see Nugget and pretty much everytime we came inside he did a 180 and stood at the door asking for Nugget. We don't have any pictures because Nugget did not share Luke's admiration. The phrases of the weekend were "OH NUGGET!" and "Granny, where's Nugget's tail?" Granny did an excellent job coming up with a variety of reasons why Nugget does not have a tail. :)
- Cars. Luke loves cars. He is ALWAYS up for a round of playing cars but he just knew he always had a playmate in Papaw. Papaw is doing so very very well in his recovery from surgery but he cannot yet hold Luke so we set up a car station where they would just play and play and play. Papaw taught Luke a new word - engine - and together they made car noises and had races. Priceless!
- The trucks. Real ones. Papaw has a few trucks and Luke wanted to inspect them all - inside and out. His favorite being Papaw's prized 1945 Ford truck which he is lovingly restoring. I think everyone is counting down the days until Papaw can take Luke for a ride.
- Fish. They were actually tadpoles but Luke refused to be corrected. Hundreds of them swimming in Granny and Papaw's pond. Luke was mesmorized and wanted to spend all day (well, the few times he forgot about Nugget) catching the tadpoles. There were some mishaps (we will leave it at that - ;) ha!!) that involved a change or two of outfits but Luke just kept going back for more! My waterbaby is now a waterboy!!
- Cousin Pete and his magical football skills. Luke took a liking to Pete right away and Pete was so nice to play "catch" with Luke (i.e. pretending to pass Luke the football without smacking him in the face) and show him how he can spin a football for minutes at a time - amazing!
- Ice cream. In a cone. Twice. Enough said!
Three cheers for the Easter Bunny for the most fantastic basket! Simply perfect!!
CRAZY about stuffed animals! Are those wild eyes or what?!
One of the favorite items - I already shudder at the thought of him one day being on board!
Luke's favorite kind of chair and this one usually had cats around it - bonus!
Taking Granny for a ride! Violently shuddering at the thought of this!
Time to let the cats out! Oh Nugget!
"My got it!!"
We hid the eggs three different times!
Can I just tell you how excited I was for Luke to be wearing long pants and a long-sleeve shirt!!
Ready, Set, Go!
Daddy and Luke - my favorite West Virginia boys!
Thanks again to Granny and Papaw for making Luke's Easter so special! We all had a wonderful time and Luke is still talking about everything that he saw and did while we were there. We can't wait to come back!
In other news:
1. I am in love with spray-on sunscreen. Perfect for my "I hate to stand still" little boy.
2. The lovebugs are back! :(
