For the past few days when I go to get Luke up from his nap he has been in such good spirits that the first thing he asks for is "dance music". "Please Mommy, me want a dance party!" Well, I am not one to turn down a dance party - even if it is 3 o'clock in the afternoon. :) So, I turn the stereo on and out comes the glorious sounds of "Jock Jams IV" (oh, don't act like you don't know what I am talking about!), only to be followed by the lovely and timeless "Ultimate Party Mix." Luke immediately begins to shake his tail feathers and I am in the zone as well...you know, belting out the tunes while doing the same dance moves I have been doing for 15 years - it is a sight to behold. I don't even get to break a sweat because after about the first 15 seconds of me dancing with my son he gives me direct orders to "Other room Mommy, please get in other room!" What?! WHAT?! Does he not understand my passion for bad dancing? He ushers me into his bedroom while he busts moves all over the landing area. Seriously, he is going nuts! He is a dancing spaz...spinning and jumping and running and shaking his head like a maniac. I stand watching this dancing dude for about 60 seconds before he again ushers me to a new location. This time he tells me to "Sit Mommy, sit in rocking chair!" So I do. The rocking chair is situated so that you cannot see out into the landing area. He has now secluded me from being a witness to his dancing let alone take part in it. Because I have 30 years on him I use my wisdom to move the rocking chair into the middle of the room so that I am sitting (like he demanded) but still in the other room (like he demanded) but still able to watch. Nope. He comes in...now sweating..."move chair back, Mommy!" Unwanted. Already. It is way too soon for this. I tried to get the camera one day to capture his craziness on the dance floor but because I am not allowed to be within viewing range I was only able to get one photo (and not a great one). I will continue to try but in the meantime my rocking chair dance moves are being perfected!
