Please notice the said "plush blanket" on the left...and Luke, nowhere near it!
4. Due to Luke's aversion to sitting in style he has now graced nearly all of his pants with grass stains. L is so proud of this and comments on their size and probable resistance to cleaning daily. And because Luke has grass stains daily...so do I! To be honest, it has been a long time since I have had grass stains and .... I kind of like it! They are proof that we take outside playtime very seriously! :)
"These jeans will never be the same but I am having one heck of a good time!"
5. Throwing food seems to be on the top of Luke's fun chart recently. This, unlike the burping, is not in the least bit funny to me. It starts with a wind up and then a broad swoosh across his highchair tray. He has a nice follow through and then a smile from ear to ear. I can tell you that pineapple can get some serious airtime!!
6. Luke has perfected the token "truck noise" that only boys seem to be able to master. His father has taught him well. When Luke does the truck noise he slobbers ALL OVER the place but he/we don't care...he is thrilled to sound just like Daddy. However, Luke applies the truck noise to anything he can shove across the floor. Just this morning he was doing the truck noise while he pushed a coaster over the carpet...the imagination is a wonderful thing!
7. What is it with boys and their love of fire? I am talking young and old boys. One of Luke's favorite destinations inside the house is the fireplace and one of his favorite outside destinations is the grill. I had no idea this love affair started so young.
8. The cleanup that is NECESSARY after outside play....Luke HATES it. From what Granny said, this runs in the family. Apparently L tried to trick his mom into thinking he washed up by just "swiping" the dirt instead of really cleaning. Most often Luke's outside time is followed by meal time and because he eats with his hands cleanup is a necessity. If only his little mind could process that clean hands = yummy food.
9. Believe it or not Luke is at a point in his life where wrestling/roughhousing/horseplay is a whole lot of fun! He is something else...he loves to be carried around upside down and he is really into forward and log rolls. Our newest thing is to throw (from a minimal distance...we are talking an inch or two) him against the back couch cushions so that he bounces off and lands on the seat cushions....this is hysterical...for him and for me!
10. We have a lovely stroller...a stroller that has many many miles on it and up until about a week ago Luke loved being in it. He still tolerates it but he is such a busy body that his legs just kick and kick for the whole walk...fun for him...annoying for me. He would much rather ride around in a very heavy and bumpy wagon. It is like choosing a pick-up truck over a Lexus...I don't get it.
Doesn't he look like a little Tom Sawyer?
He is loud, he is dirty, he does some gross things but he is my little boy and I love it all!!!
As you should love it all, Kim. Luke is just adorable and it sounds like you are enjoying every moment of every day with him. As a grandmother, I can tell you that is the most important thing -- just love and enjoy him. Time goes by too quickly. Kathy Leicht (MiMi now :-)
