Pie and Sheldon

2 items: one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

1. Strawberry rhubarb pie. I can remember my mom making this on occassion when I was younger, it was a rareity but in a family of pie lovers it was always a special treat. My mom came to spend the afternoon with me yesterday and we made a stop at my neighbor's produce stand (this place deserves a blog of its own...that is how fabulous it is and how much I love it!). She had fresh strawberries and fresh rhubarb and I/we were determined to try out a recipe for strawberry rhubarb pie (with the addition of a streusel topping - due to me only having a bottom pie crust). Delicious! Mom handled the filling and I handled the streusel and it was a kitchen success! Unfortunately mom left before being able to sample it but I have already assured her that is was incredibly tasty! What an early summer treat.

The darker pieces in the middle got a little crunchier so we picked those off and ate them like candy!

2. The Big Bang Theory. This show is hysterical! L and I are in love with it and it is not a reality show which is saying a lot for me (I am pretty much exclusive with reality shows, with the exception of Lorelai and Rory). I am not sure how long it has been on but we were just introduced to it a few months ago so we are still in the honeymoon phase. It is so funny and clever and completely appropriate for us. If you are not watching this show you should be - especially if you are a nerd-which many of you are! (I mean that as the most sincere compliment). It centers around a foursome of nerds. Genuine, stereotypical, and proud nerds. They are socially akward and incredibly intelligent - apparently that alone makes for great TV. I wish Sheldon lived with us.
