Virginia Love - Team Tully

We rounded out our time in Northern Virginia as just the three of us.  We hiked some more, spent afternoons on the water, went to a local farm, played cornhole and cards, did a couple of day trips, hung out with neighbors who are now new friends, saw a movie in a tiny theater, and just spent quality time together.

We started our time together picking up Luke at my college alma mater!  I hadn't been on campus in 20 years!  It was such a surreal feeling.  Some things had changed but more things had stayed the same.  I am well aware that I am over 20 years older now but being on campus made me feel 22 again.  I loved it so much!
And having my 14 year old son walk these paths with me this time was amazing!
We visited a local farm near our river house.  What a fantastic place!  This little family - who we met and loved - runs this fantastic place where they raise woodland hogs, grass-fed cattle, and free-range chickens.  They gave us free rein to walk their property to have a look.  The little guys...
The big guys....
A local state park for more wandering and fishing!  Luke caught one on his very first cast.
The rural country road we lived on lent itself to this kid taking many turns at the wheel.  He did great!
Fly fishing in the creek that runs through the tiny 'downtown'.  Luke got really good at casting the fly rod and even caught a fish on it in the river at the house.  I was super impressed!  It takes a lot of patience and skill.
A giant bass!!

The above bass was caught while Luke was sitting on an inverted tube floating downstream!  Hilarious and also...whatever works!

Another one of our day trips was to DC!  We did all the usual touristy things and it was the first time we had experienced the hazy and thick air from the Canadian wildfires.  We weaved in and out of museums to get a break and we enjoyed our time in our nation's capital very much!

The museum of modern art is a hidden gem - it is not big but it packs a punch.

More hiking in Shenandoah National Park!

A mountain top family selfie!

Thank you to L for his quick camera reflexes in capturing this sweetness!

Team Tully. This little family of mine fills me up day in and day out.  We are so grateful for our time together and we will always look back on our small town summer with fondness and wonderful memories!
