Favorite Fall

Fall.  My favorite season.  We have lived in many places. Fall looks and feels a little different everywhere we have lived. My most favorite fall is a Pennsylvania fall.  There is nothing quite like it.  We were lucky enough to spend some time recently in that beautifully fantastic Pennsylvania fall.  Then we came home to our own version of fall, the southern fall, not quite as vibrant or crisp but SUCH a welcome change for us! We have been soaking up each and every day with gratitude for hooded sweatshirt mornings and open windows on breezy afternoons.

These kids and this neighborhood are just the best!  Saturday afternoon driveway basketball is pretty commonplace and we just love it.  L was thrilled that our hoop was chosen this day so he could play!

Luke rides his bike constantly.  I cannot think of a day in the last month that he has not gone out for a ride with friends.  He came home with this after a particularly "epic" (his word) ride.  What in the world?! (if you can't tell it is a plastic horse hoof)  The adventures that these kids have are surely providing them with childhood memories to last a lifetime!

Jasper stole L's seat.  Hilarious.  Also, what kind of dog sits like this?!

Jasper and I went to the park to pick some wildflowers to make an arrangement for our dear Ms. MaryAnn's birthday!  84 years young!

Jeffery's go kart was a BIG hit during our visit to PA.  Our trip was made possible by overlapping fall breaks for L and Luke. And to make it even better L being asked to speak in the geology department of the college where Mit works.  It was perfect!  We got to spend time with our favorite people and L got to shine while getting to meet so many other inspiring professors and students.  A fantastic fall weekend!

Hallie and L with the soccer drills.

Ima and Shesh passed along some of their extensive Halloween goodies and this particular witch got a lot of face time.  Ha!  I find it super creepy and Mit's puppet handling made it even more so but the kids found it hilarious.  This gem stayed in PA....thank goodness!!!

An afternoon of fishing!

I'm usually on worm duty

Sweet Charlie. The oldest of the family dogs and by far the most chill!  Beyond adorable.

Only inside when the sun went down for a heated game of pool

Endless trips in this sweet ride

Morning shot of "the green stuff".  The breakfast of these three active champions!

Jeffrey - 14.5    Luke - 13   Hallie - almost 12

And home again.  If it is before 9am these kids can be found playing Pokemon, indoor basketball, and ALWAYS eating!  I literally just put food in front of them.  None of them are picky.  On this particular morning I made bagels; they ate them.  This trio tray has carrots, peppers, and grapes; gone.  The next round was almonds, cheese cubes, and spinach; devoured.  The amount of food that teen and preteen boys eat is insane.  The grocery store is the place I visit most often and my credit card is tired.

Our best little guy had a sick day and stayed home from school.  Luckily we had an extra nurse on hand to help him feel better!

My daily walks in the woods are absolutely gorgeous at this time of year.  I walk slower and we are gone longer.  We both love every minute of it.  Grateful.

Luke and his creek crew spend countless hours building forts, fishing, hiking, trail biking, and just being boys.

We had a 'bring your own pumpkin' driveway pumpkin carving party planned for Luke and his buddies but Luke was still not feeling great so it was just the three of us in our pajamas for some pumpkin carving.

I think my favorite part is  cleaning out the pumpkin.  I love the feel of the pumpkin guts!  Not sure what that says about me but there you have it.

We prefer non traditional carving tools.

Happy Halloween!
