Yes, I know that is the saying for March but boy oh boy did that apply to Team Tully's August! Yikes! Literally August 1st arrived and two out of the three of us were ill, very ill, then I got sick to round out the trifecta. Each of us had something different and we were all feeling terrible at the same time which made things all the more 'interesting.' Ugh! It was a solid week of yuck and ick and pain and doctors and appointments and bleh. But we all rallied and finished out our summer strong! Thank goodness! (I did not document the Tully household sicknesses so you are just getting the good stuff, you're welcome).
We cross the dam weekly for one Luke's Pokemon tournaments and this was our lake view one evening! So pretty. Props to Luke for his stellar photography skills!
We are always on the hunt for new fishing spots. Jasper definitely does not aid in the fishing as he makes a beeline for the water but we did get quite a few bites.
Old railroad bridges are one of my favorite things! I had almost made it across, leaving Jasper with L and Luke, but he noticed my absence..."such a mama's boy"!
Home
So, about 6-8 months ago we realized that Luke had outgrown his kid kayak. Bittersweet. He ended up selling it to some friends of ours. He was adamant that he would like a fishing kayak and picked one out that he liked. L and I said that if he earned half of the money that we would match him. He did it! He mowed lawns, did some pet sitting, and saved some birthday money and we ordered it! It arrived just before the start of school and our little fisherman was SO excited!
We had it out on the water the very next day! So awesome!
Hopefully Luke will have this for a very long time!
And finally.....
L and Luke both started their new school years! L is teaching a great group of Geology majors and is enjoying being back in the classroom. He is making great progress on his own research and has lots of interesting field trips and talks lined up. He continues to be the very best version of himself in a position he was absolutely made for. He continues to amaze us and we are so proud of him! And....
8th Grade!!! You probably can't see the sign but when Luke grows up he would like to be a "Fishing/River Guide". That seems about right! We are so proud of him and love him so very very much! Eighth grade here he comes!!
So, August did indeed start on a low note but after that initial week it just got better and better and it ended with a HUGE adventure for me, just me. More on that after I process and reflect and find the words to describe an experience of a lifetime! Stay tuned....
