L spent a month out West (Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico) again this summer to help with field camp for the undergraduate students. He loves it! I love it for him! Luke and I were able to join him last year for a week or so but it didn't work out this year for us to do that. Being without him was hard for sure but knowing that he is out there doing what he loves is a fantastic feeling! And this year was even better because he was asked to teach a few hydrogeology segments to supplement the sedimentology/stratigraphy, igneous geology, and mapping days. He was so excited! Teaching is what this man was meant to do! When we would talk on the phone I could tell how excited he was to be teaching out in the field, out in the middle of nowhere, out where the geology is nothing like home and everyone is learning together in some ways. When I asked how things went after each of his sessions he would humbly tell me that they went well and that he thinks the students really enjoyed it. Then I heard from both the professors and the other TA about how L was AMAZING! And that the students loved loved loved his lessons and field work activities and assignments. I'm sure he will be back on the field camp roster as long as he is willing. So proud! Here are a few pictures from his time out there (thanks, Meredith!).
I mean, who wouldn't want to work out there?!?! Just gorgeous!
This guy!
Living his best field camp life. Love!!
The crew!
A teaching action shot....totally in his element!
A post-kitchen dancing selfie! Luke wanted no part of our dance party (#AlmostThirteen) but I am so happy to have my dance partner back!
And lastly, this guy. He can finally rest, can finally lower his guard. His pack is back together.
