School, Dogs, a Hurricane, Camping, and Birthdays

Here we are, the end of September.  School is in full swing and Luke is enjoying his teachers and classmates.  Recess, PE, Science, and Art continue to be his favorites and fourth grade has gotten of to a GREAT start!  As always we are thankful for the wonderful teachers and his wonderful school.

Thank you to LaShawn for "making us" take this mother-son photo!
An Entomologist/Egyptologist this year!  That's a thing, right?
My after school sessions with this crew have resumed!  Nothing like a little fishing on a Tuesday after school.

The Canine Cousins!  We had all three for the weekend!  They all get along really well and we were not outnumbered so that was a good thing!

 Barely room for Luke :-)

He requested that I don't run the dishwasher in the morning because it is his job to unload it.  "I need to be more awake to do this."  HA!

Perks of having this size kid.  Light enough to stand on the dresser and tall enough to reach the intake filter

These two could not be cuter!  The best of friends!

 Poor Charlie

 Lucky Charlie

On a squirrel hunt!  Jasper wishes Charlie was a bit more stealth in his technique but another set of predator eyes is a good thing!

Just your typical Sunday afternoon walk to the creek...full hiking backpack included.  The attached bat is so that Luke can go first and knock down all the spiderwebs for the rest of us!

This is one of my favorites.  Charlie has dug himself a little nest.  When he lays there Jasper stands/sits guarding it while he sleeps.  Hilarious!  Jasper will sit there for a good 15 minutes before deeming it safe for him to leave.

Cat sighting

I can't take it!  SO adorable!  LOVE!
We are loving having Charlie as part of our family for a little while.  He fits right in! And it allows his human family to.....

...have an adventure of a lifetime!!  We love you and miss you!!

Luke and I spent a Sunday afternoon making obstacles for his remote controlled car.  We had so much fun!  His obstacles were way  more successful than mine.
Hurricane Florence.  What a beast she was to our neighbors to the north and east but she was kind to us.  The kids thought she was very kind because they got 4 days off from school for really a couple of rainy days.  They loved it!  I tolerated it.  ;-)  Ha!  We made the most of it and the kids were good and we spent our days together playing, having Mommy/Mrs. Tully school, dog walks, chores, and errands.  They were hurricane troopers and had a blast!  These boys are going to have childhood memories to last a lifetime.
Uno in the clubhouse!
 Native American study

Luke teaching James the difference between qualitative and quantitative observations.
James reading to the big boys...and Jasper

This is what a day at the Tully house will do to you!
 Cleaning Day!

Wandering Wal-mart's halloween section.  Free entertainment!

 Earning 50 cents each!

 Hurricane tennis

Post-hurricane camping trip to the mountains!  We had a blast!  This was L's birthday gift...camping and a hike of his choosing.  As always we loaded our car with pounds and pounds of gear and it was worth EVERY ounce!
The chosen hike was awesome!  It took us through lots of different environments and there were tons of boulders for our little climber to climb.  It was pretty steep with a 2000+ft vertical gain in about 3.5 miles but it was worth it and the view from the top was spectacular.  Luke was a champ and we all loved it!  Challenging but doable and FUN!

We swam in the lake when were were finished and the boys braved these COLD waterfalls!
We brought our fishing poles and were unsuccessful but Luke took his pole down to the creek by our campsite and caught a few of these suckers...crayfish!  They were pretty big and cool to look at.  Our campsite neighbor was very impressed!
 Always a geology lesson...poor kid

Nothing like a little tent reading.  Gosh how we love the great outdoors!

L turned older and requested a volcano cake.  Luckily he clarified that said volcano cake did not have to erupt.  Thank goodness!  Luke and I created this masterpiece.  The birthday boy was thrilled!
 "Nailed It"

My birthday was just as sweet!  Homemade brownies from my boys and mint chocolate chip ice cream to go with them.  We went paddleboarding for my birthday and we had a blast!  No pictures, unfortunately, but trust me....it's awesome!

A rare moment when this 9 year old is still.  Such an active and creative kid!  Love!
