L and I often talk about balance. Just in the last couple of years we both have tried to make an effort to remember and to celebrate that we are more than just Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad are the greatest roles we have ever had, they are the roles we love the most, the roles we are most proud of, and the roles that drive everything else in our lives....but....we are also K and L. We have interests of our own and we have a history and a life that was at one time just the two of us. We are individuals, we are a couple, and we are part of a family. Balance. It takes work but it is worth it and it is healthy. Recently we bookended our 12th anniversary with His and Hers Weekends.

My girlfriends and I headed to the beach (thank you M and D!!!) for a little getaway to celebrate two birthdays. We had so much fun...chatting, biking, exploring, shopping, indulging, and just being together. TIME. The greatest gift of all!

My weekend was full of gabbing and lounging and resting and relaxing and recharging. L chose a COMPLETELY different path for his weekend! Ha! He chose to join 9 other men and to run 200 miles in roughly 24 hours from our town to the coast! 200 MILES. Crazy/Awesome/Insane/Amazing. They each took turns running - 24 hours of running. Who does that? On purpose? This guy does.....
He made it home in one piece, smiling, and so proud of himself! We are INCREDIBLY proud of him too!!!
