Luke is 8. Eight. EIGHT. Geez. 8. He is a brilliant eight. He is a hilarious eight (seriously, his comedic timing is a true and natural talent). He is a stubborn eight. He is a sassy eight. He is a animal loving eight. He is a Lego loving eight. He is a question asking eight. He is a believer in fairness eight. He is a compassionate eight. He is a talkative eight. He is a bug fanatic eight (still!). He is a good friend eight. He is a comfy clothes only eight. He is a golfer eight. He is a lyric listener eight. He is a Pokemon eight. He is a fort building eight. He is an outdoor explorer eight. He is a Harry Potter eight. He is a glorious eight. He is our eight. He is our love and our life and our everything! Happy 8th Birthday, Luke! We love you!
As always I offered a party. As always the offer was declined. Special time and one on one time with friends and family is requested instead and I get it. From the days of not wanting anyone to "sing that song" to not wanting a party, not much has changed. This is our birthday boy and we love him!
Sweet J took over for me this year with the homemade cake and I could not have done it better myself! A golf theme was chosen and it was AWESOME! A sand trap and water hazard included and of course it was hole number 8! :-)
Birthday love!
So fantastic and the birthday boy was thrilled!
Taking his seat in his self proclaimed "birthday chair"
A science day with C! Luke and C have such similar minds and I just love to watch these little science minds work. Exothermic reactions for the birthday win!
Our buddies!!! Oh how we love D and B! They are simply never short on smiles and we love our time together (birthday celebrating or not). :-)
Happy 8th Birthday breakfast! I tried to make 8s out of everything! He loved it!
Birthday Lego building with M. She is such a good friend to Luke and for Luke. He was so happy that she could spend his special day with him!
Pokemon love!
The gift of the year! It is currently housed in his bedroom and I can hear him putting in there before he even leaves his room in the morning. So cute!
We also had birthday time with J and J bowling and having frozen yogurt. Why I don't have pictures of that is beyond me! They had so much fun and I simply cannot get enough of their 8 year old conversations. They twins had just gotten back from an Alaskan cruise and found the perfect gift for Luke in a handmade slingshot and whistle. He was thrilled!
We also had birthday time with B doing what else but....kayaking!! A glorious morning out on the lake! We always say we will stay 2 hours and then leave but 4 hours later we always seem to be shocked with how time flies. :-) A sure sign of an awesome friendship!
Luke is so lucky to have such amazing and caring people in his life from family members near and far to friends next door and hours away. We talked about you all and how much you matter not only at birthday time but ALWAYS!
