Vermont - New York

We just got back from a fantastic trip up north!  We headed to Vermont for a few days to wander (our favorite pastime) and to attend a family wedding.  Then we made our way to upstate New York to visit a very dear friend of mine and her family.  A wonderful 4 days!!

Someone was VERY happy to feel the crisp cool New England air!  I was thrilled too!

The view from our cottage room in Vermont.  Gorgeous!

We spent a day hiking around and up Mt. Equinox in Vermont.  One of the trails led to a springhouse so a certain hydrogeologist could not resist giving Luke a lesson in hydrology and flow rate.

Up up up we go!

Hard to see but there is a large hornet nest in those trees.  We stopped for a good five minutes on the trail to watch the hive activity.  So cool!  But also very glad that it was dozens of feet in the air.

We made it up to a lookout point.  Luke brought a camera with him which we have learned is a great thing!  Not only does he take ownership of it but he get to choose what is "picture worthy" and it sometimes distracts him from realizing that we have hiked 7 miles.

Gorgeous lunch stop!

L wanted to "rest for a minute" - Ha!

Not quite brave enough to cross it upright but he made it all the way across and back like this. :-)

For Papaw - a sculpture man made out of tools :-)

The wedding location.  Simply Beautiful!

Pre - wedding tree climbing and contemplating.

Team Tully - wedding ready

Luke has been to 2 weddings....the first was at a blueberry farm where he aimlessly wandered rows of blueberry bushes and picked and ate to his heart's content.  There were also goats to pet and fields to run in.  At his second wedding there were swings and a seesaw and a very friendly wandering dog and alpacas and ladder golf and corn hole.  This child has been spoiled by weddings.  AND....the next wedding he will attend will be Aunt Daney's ... at the beach!  Can you say lucky kid?!

Wedding bliss

My two very favorite people looking like twins!!!

The wedding was beautiful and the bride and groom are sublimely happy!  We got to visit with lots of family and we got to spend lots of time outside hiking and wandering and feeding fish and just being together.  It was fantastic.

My greatest regret of the whole trip was not getting ANY pictures while we were in New York with the W family!  :-( What was I thinking?!  I guess I was thinking about how thankful we were to be able to get together and spend the day with our families just hanging out and enjoying each other's company and K and I got to relive our childhood a bit and just catch up!  It was awesome!  We are so grateful for their hospitality, the delicious food, and for their friendship.  Priceless.  The kids did great and they were all filthy by the time we left  - a sign of a day well spent!  K has been a huge part of my life for nearly 30 years and I value her friendship more than she knows.  She and her family are genuine and kind and gracious.  We LOVED our time together and you will just have to trust me telling you that there were smiles all around!!
