Team Tully spent Spring Break at sea level in the Bahamas and then a trip to outer space at the Kennedy Space Center. We also were able to explore lots of elevations in between. It has been a week full of travel and experiences and fun for all of us! Here we go.....
The cruising life allows this kid to eat shrimp every. single. day. He could not be more thrilled!!
This was a new ship to us. It was a short cruise but we were able to fill it with memory moments and adventure!
No joke...Luke was the absolute first person on the entire ship to get into the pool! So funny! The water was freezing but at 6 years old you are apparently immune to that kind of thing.
10 years. 10 years of laughter and love.
We stopped at two places in the Bahamas. One island we celebrated our life and family by doing an excursion of swimming with dolphins!!! For real! Swam with them and fed them and played with them and they even gave us a ride around the lagoon. An amazing experience that we will never forget! Truly awesome and intelligent creatures. A humbling experience. We will hopefully have some pictures to share soon of us with our new aquatic BFFs. The other island was full of simplicity and beauty through wandering and snorkeling. Gorgeous!
Ready! We all snorkeled and it was pretty amazing! Lots of new and interesting fish. You really do feel like part of a different world.
Gorgeous!
We let Luke have a camera of his own to document this trip and I have to tell you that there are a good number of his photos in the blog post...this being one of them. This iguana was a spectator of the visitors to his island. He was just hanging out in the dune area for all to see.
Kids. This is Luke and his snorkeling buddy. These two kids played for hours in the water and on the beach. Just being kids - instant friendship. When Luke was finished playing I asked what his new friend's name was and he answered but then I asked where he was from and Luke said "I don't know, but does it really matter?" No, I guess it doesn't. A friend for the afternoon...there is something to be said for just knowing a name. :-)
10 years. 10 years of wandering.
Once back on dry land we made our way to the Kennedy Space Center. Amazing. I cannot tell you how awesome this place is. We had never been there and for a few weeks prior to our trip we were refreshing our memories (and in Luke's case learning for the first time) about space and space travel. Nothing can prepare you for this experience. More than once I had goosebumps, more than once my eyes welled with tears. I come from a science family, my education is based on science, I am married to a scientist, Luke is obsessed with the natural world. This matters to us. I struggled to wrap my brain around a lot of it. Outer space...the vastness, the unknown, the known and how we have managed to explore and study and find answers. Truly amazing! We had a man on the moon before we had wheels on luggage. What?!?!?! Mind blowing. The Space Center is a magnificent place and we easily spent 8 hours there. We gazed at the Atlantis Shuttle, L and Luke took part in a launch simulator, we talked with engineers that could not be more proud of the work they have done and the place they hold in history. We saw the new Orion rocket launch structure, we heard from astronauts who want nothing more than to go back...to go to a place that is familiar and necessary. Luke talked on the way home about shuttles and asteroids and moon geology and Mars and Yuri Gagarin and how Michael Collins should get more recognition. We were educated and we were amazed! A GREAT day!
Team Tully ready for a trip to outer space!
This exhibit is so well done! Our favorite part of the day and a true testament to the wonders of space - a concept to realization experience. Astounding.

So much respect for people that make this their life's work.

Where the magic happens and where they are currently working on the Orion rocket!

This was a cool experience....this is the ACTUAL catwalk that Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong walked to board the Apollo XI shuttle to go to the moon. What a long walk that must have been!

In between sea level and space:
After the space center we headed to HH to visit a bit with Ima and Sheshy. They spent a few days with Luke and L and I got to celebrate our anniversary just the two of us. It was fantastic! We took it slow, we wandered, we talked about the past, present, and future. Time. An amazing thing. (Thank you Mom and Dad!!)
We spent time hiking...miles and miles of outside wandering...it is how we met and it is still how we love to spend our time. Outside...where we are tiny and the world is big.
The mountains of our beloved state. How lucky are we to spend a day here?!
Meanwhile...in HH! Ha! This kid and his love for critters!!! So fantastic!
A beach boy from the beginning! He has been coming to this very beach multiple times a year since he was 3 months old! Sand and surf are in his blood. :-)
