Windy and Wonderful

Team Tully spent a little summer getaway in Chicago!  It was fantastic!  Chicago has a special place in my heart.  My grandmother grew up within sight of the city and my brother spent many years living there.  It is such a great city..one of my top 5 favorite for sure!  This trip was made even better by having Luke and his wide eyes with us and we got to meet up with Melanie!  My dear, sweet, fiery pants Melanie!  What a wonderful reunion and I am so grateful she made the trip to be with us!  I love traveling with Luke...he is an awesome traveler and his reactions to new places thrill me.  The buildings are huge, the noises loud, and sights endless.  He enjoyed it but did ask why everyone talks so loud in a city.  Ha!  So, it was windy, it was wonderful, it was cool (literally and figuratively), it was fun filled, it was educational, and it was good for the soul!

Luke is no angel but this kid is a fantastic little jet setter!  Both the flight to Chicago and back were bumpy (like the flight attendants had to keep their seats bumpy) and Luke did not bat an eye.  He obviously does not get that calmness from his mother!

Sculptures in Grant Park.  I love art installations...we wound our way around these legs and came up with ideas of where they are going and who they belong to.  A four year old's perspective is an amazing thing!

The Field Museum.  An awe inspiring place.

Chi-Town

He sure does love animals!  And I never thought I would say this but a big shout out to the Wild Kratts for their help in educating our son on animal species from around the world!

There she is in all her glory.....SUE!!

I LOVE this lady! Friends for over 15 years and a lifetime of stories and experiences!

Luke perfects the "photobomb"!  He adores Melanie and thinks she is the queen of jokes!  Surprisingly she had plenty of clean jokes to share!  ;-)

Team Tully in the big city!  (I have this very same picture (sans Luke, of course) from about 10 years ago that I should find.  Life sure has changed! )

Luke doing some moon exploration at the planetarium!

I think the Shedd aquarium was our family favorite!  Lots of amazing things to see and even touch and the beluga whales were discussed on the way home!
Luke and his "sculpture friends"

Buckingham Fountain

A quick trip to Navy Pier - lots of construction but a delicious seafood meal made it well worth it!

I am certainly not a 5star foodie but this place was fantastic!  I would seek it out the next time we are in town.  Yum!

Headed home...planes, trains, and automobiles make for a long day!  Thank you Chicago!  You are loved and we will be back!
