I can't belive I am writing another list of things we will miss about our current home but it helps me remember
all the wonderful things that each location has brought to our lives. I am certain that I will look back on this in 20 years and think..."I STILL cannot believe I lived in Florida!" (For some reason Florida always screamed "vacation" and "old people" - both are very very true but it is so much more than that). We are incredibly grateful for our time here and here is what will be missed the most:
1. Citrus. I love our twice a week trips to the orange and grapefruit and kumquat trees for fresh citrus. There is simple nothing like it and it makes me sad to think of my juicer being an occassional kitchen gadget instead of an everyday one.
2. 4 words: flip. flops. all. year.
3. Camp Tully/ Camp Retey. What a great experience! The kids go so much enjoyment out of camp "projects" and "treats" and "adventures." I loved it! I love those little girls like my own and I am not unaware of how wonderful it is to have a friend who will gladly take my kid and create a glorious day for him while I have some time to myself. Such a simple concept but worth so very very much to my sanity and my heart. Thank you, LR!!
4. 630am dog walks. When L is traveling the morning dog walk becomes my responsibility so I set the alarm for 630 and off we go in the field by the house. Not once, since we have lived here have I had to put on a hat or gloves for a 630am walk!! Not once....no matter the date! I will forever miss the lack of time needed to "get ready" to go outside.
5. Live Oak trees. These massive trees grace our neighborhood and our yard like something out of the fairytales. How I wish we lived here while Luke was a little older so he could climb on their mighty branches. They really are works of art and not a day goes by when I don't notice their size and beauty.
6. Twice a day skydiving jumps above our yard. Everyday Luke and I marvel at the beautiful parachute colors and the length of their free falls before they pull the parachute cord. It is a beautiful sight and adds more color to the already vivid blue sky.
6. My friends. I have said it before that having incredible friends at this stage in my life is so very very important to me and I value their presence and their spirit. I love them each differently and my life is so much brighter because they are in it. I will miss seeing them and their families but I hope that our relationships are strong enough to stretch the miles. I know they are. They matter.
We are less than 2 weeks away from moving day. We are excited, anxious, sad, and overwhelmed but Team Tully is up for the challenge and we are thrilled to have had Florida as part of our life's journey!!
