Luke at 8 Months

Today is Luke's 8 month birthday! Time is a funny thing...sometimes I feel like he was just 2 months old but for some reason this last month has really just seemed to have taken FOREVER! I think it is in part due to the weather but regardless, here we are and Luke is changing with each passing day. He is amazing and is starting to find his parents extremely funny (we relish in this!). Here is what Luke is up to at the 8 month mark:

- Crawling...like a maniac. He is fast, he is determined, he is into everything!

- Standing up...on whatever is closest...chairs, people, the TV stand, the coffee table, the bed, the vacuum cleaner, his crib, and the dog. He has been very unsucessful with the dog - Riggs is no fool.

- Fingerfoods - now he is loving them...thank goodness, I thought he would be eating just Cheerios forever but the current favorite is broccoli.

- Red peppers - Luke has a love/hate relationship with red peppers and I have yet to figure it out. One day he will scarf up every last piece and then the next day that is the only thing left on his plate when he is finished. He is fickle.

- The grocery store is still his favorite place to go...he is now amazed by the credit card swiping thingy...all those buttons!

- Luke now gives kisses...not on command...and sometimes instead of a kiss it is bite (he gets a litte too excited) but we ask for "sweet" kisses all the time.

- He has yet to become an omnivore...we have tried but meat is not on his "yummy list" quite yet (much to his father's dismay!)

- We have joined a playgroup and what a riot! Baby playdates...there are no words. I am still finding it the strangest thing yet I count down the days until our next get together...playdates deserve a blog entry all their own. We have one coming up with 8 other babies under the age of 1...yikes!

- He seems to be in a very big book phase and we are thrilled. There is nothing I like better than reading to Luke. His current favorites involve ducks that cuddle, penguins that swim, and a pig that dances. Oh, and a shout out to Aunt Daney for the touchy feely penguin book...Luke gives kisses to the fluffy baby penguin at the end...too cute!

- Still just 2 teeth

- Because there are teeth we have now started to brush them, and .... he LOVES it! This is a sight to see...he opens wide and smiles while we gently rub his two pearly whites. Hopefully this is sign of small dentist bills when he gets older.

-Bath time is still his favorite part of the day...he has a brand new tub and he will sit and splash for as long as we let him.

Here are a few pictures from today, our birthday boy is getting so big!
