For 18 years on our anniversary we have a theme - we make it a point to spend time outside, we get a pineapple, and we make each other a card. These are traditions we look forward to every year. They are simple and lovely and fun and the most meaningful to us. Time. Time together is always and forever the greatest gift.
Just a side note about our photographers for the above photos. The outside picture was taken after L and I ran 9 miles (because 9+9=18. If you know me at all this makes perfect sense ). There was an older couple on the bridge and we asked them to take the photo. They were the cutest! We told them we were celebrating our anniversary and they asked how many years. They congratulated us and shared that they have been married for 57 years!! We finished walking the bridge with them hearing some of their stories. Good for the soul.
The pineapple photo was taken by Luke, our precious and sweet 14 year old son, who made fun of us endlessly!!! But also, there is no doubt in our minds that Luke knows exactly what a loving, respectful, joyful, and healthy partnership looks like.
