Winter To Spring

The in between winter and spring days brought the south's quintessential 'what is going on?' weather.  There is a saying here:  "If you don't like the weather just wait a day or two."  It's so true.  We had 80 degree days in February. It was in the 20s at night early last week but we turned the AC on by Friday.  Today I am wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Crazy!  The changing of the seasons seems to bring fuller schedules for all of us and we have been busy, the good kind of busy.

This is what friendship in your 40s sometimes looks like.  We were gifted some booze that we do not drink.  I have a friend who does drink it.  We have very different schedules so a booze porch drop off is what went down.  Nothing like alcohol delivered to your front door in a child's gift bag!  Photo to document and send that I actually made the drop off...just in case she had some thirsty neighbors.

Luke (and I) had a big weekend!  His very first regional Pokemon tournament!  So exciting!  We headed to Knoxville for this kid to play with thousands of other Pokemon fanatics!  He did a great job and learned a lot and met some really great people!  The Pokemon community is made up of some of the nicest folks we have ever met, just really kind and generous and welcoming.  We had a great time!
Early morning hotel desk deck work.  My job was to drive him to the hotel, pay for the hotel, make sure he ate, and stay out of his way.
Proud of this kid!  This game is not easy and there are a lot of moving parts and he held his own.  More importantly he was gracious when he won and gracious when he lost and that means so very very much!

I tried to capture just how many people were there.  This does not due the vastness justice.

On our way home.  This smart kid used an extra face mask as an eye mask for better sleeping conditions.  Ha!  Strategy card games really take a lot of of you!

Just in case you missed Jasper's face!

Speaking of faces!  This is the face of a girl who just purchased her very first Crumbl cookie!  It did not disappoint!  It also was not entirely worth the hype.  #TheMoreYouKnow

Hooray for family visits!  My side of the family gathered at our house for the weekend and we loved every second of it!  Unfortunately, Daney and James and the girls couldn't make it.  Gosh, we were SO sad about that but both girls were ill with fevers so we understood but they were missed!!  We played lots of games - board games, card games, money games (as seen here - Mit was the big winner.of this one -$27 buckaroos!).  And LOTS of basketball!  We had a blast!

These three walked to our local Mexican restaurant for lunch one day and on their way back they found this gem in the creek bed.  They wheeled this mini grocery cart all the way home and found many things to "decorate" it with (all items were found in the woods or purchased at a garage sale - we are a 'no theft' household).

These two! Forever a dynamic engineering and tinkering duo! 'Projects' like this are their favorite thing!

They found an old bike that we had in the shed, took the front wheel off and attached the rest to the cart so that it could be driven.  So great!  Luke totally looked like ET coming down the street in this!

I mean...isn't this an engineering marvel?!  I love it!  This was the garage sale in which they purchased a banner that said "Congratulations" and strung that up around the cart.
Luke on the bike waiting for a passenger!

(Apparently there were no pictures taken of the adults but Mit, Molly, Ima, Shesh, L, and I were all smiling ear to ear all weekend!)

The two gorgeous gals on the right both have March birthdays and it was such a joy to celebrate them!  I have some of the greatest friends in the world...lucky me!

Here we go again!  Pokemon regional tournament #2!  We are so fortunate that another tournament took place a few weeks after Knoxville and even closer to home!  This one was even bigger and Luke did even better!  A great weekend!

So. Many. People
Wow!!
I tried to get an action shot before the first round started and Luke was assigned a table on the aisle so it was perfect!

So, L and I signed up for a trail 10k that fell on our anniversary!  Then we found out that the Pokemon tournament fell on our anniversary and because we are rockstar parents (not true...we STILL have no idea what we are doing!) we bagged the race and headed to Pokemon world!  However, we picked a day over L's spring break, figured out the trail map, and did the race on our own.  It was awesome!  Happy Anniversary to us!

And here we are on our actual anniversary!  Ha!  Nothing says Happy 17th Anniversary like a picture with Pikachu!
