Our city, our state, our neighborhood was devastated by a flood in early October. It was such a surreal event full of heartbreak, destruction, damage, and amazement. There were so many places and that were completely under water. School was out for a week and hundreds and hundreds of people lost their homes and everything in them. Even our own neighborhood (where the above picture was taken) was greatly affected in spots. The clean up will take months and months if not years in some areas. It was awful and humbling. BUT, it was also amazing! Our town, our city, our state is full of amazing and selfless and generous and genuinely good people. The outpouring of aid (in all forms) was astounding and inspiring. It was a pleasure to be part of such an empathetic and genuine community.
Our neighborhood playground and soccer field.
A true lesson in the power of weather.
