Family Vacation February 2014

Team Tully hit the open ocean and cruised on down to Haiti and Jamaica!  Oh my, it was wonderful!  Perfect! Amazing!  Fantastic! And any other over the top positive superlative you can think of!  The weather was perfect, the water calm, and the company priceless.  We live in a very "connected" world and let me tell you, the "disconnect" alone was such a good thing!  We truly had the BEST time and as with most of our awesome vacations L was looking for our next trip on our way home.  :-)

No joke.  This kid got a hole in one on the second hole less than an hour after getting on the ship!  Now that is how you start a vacation!!

Toothless made a surprise appearance at our cruise terminal!  A certain 4 year old was thrilled with his cruise companion!

This is a mall....inside a boat.  There was also an ice skating rink...inside a boat.

Breakfast with my boys.

A favorite pastime.  Oh how I wish Poppa could see this!

As you can see we never had trouble spotting our kid...yikes!...what a getup!

The kid area!  2 pools, a splash area masterpiece, and 2 hot tubs.

The Flowrider!  This is not a picture of L but his brave self did give it a whirl!

Isn't she grand?

My boys swimming in Haiti

This might be my absolute favorite picture.  We honestly had to force Luke out of the ocean to get lunch.  He snorkeled ALL. DAY. LONG.  I cannot tell you how much I loved watching my water kid just swim around all day looking for "creatures".  He is so very content to just explore!

A beautiful boy in a beautiful country

There's nothing like being serenaded while swimming in the Caribbean!

This photo cracks me up.  Luke would float around on his back and then feel the need to arch his back so that his head is backwards under the water.  He told me "I can see different things this way."  Perspective, ladies and gentlemen, perspective.

Leaving Haiti

A Haitian nap. :-)

Tranquility

Jamaica!  A beautiful country with an incredibly stark contrast between the haves and the have nots.  Sad but reality.

Jamaica's open air market

If you ask Luke he will tell you that THIS was his favorite part of the cruise.  He could reach both the cone dispenser and the ice cream dispenser handles....a dangerous scenario. :-)  He had three a day...except for the last day...he had five.

Luke's cruise BFF, Hayden.  Their birthdays are five days apart...fast friends!

A few characters were onboard.  Luke had little interest.  Ha!

On Valentine's Day Luke decided to drop the water wings and swim!!!!  Hooray!  He pretty much told me that he didn't want to wear his floaties anymore.  I said okay.  He jumped right in and swam....like it's no big deal.

Seriously probably the highlight of the trip for me. I made a huge fuss and showered him with praise and admiration...and I will remember his response for the rest of my life.  He swam to the ladder.  Got out and came over to me...lifted his gigantic goggles and said...."swimming is my Valentine's gift for you, Mommy."  Said in his little dry, matter of fact voice.  I hugged his soaking wet self and cried.  L signaled to me to try to do my best and contain myself in my blubbering state but c'mon...is that not the cutest thing?!

Just in case.  Although, this is the morning of DISembarking but Luke just had to try it out!

Once again we are thankful to be able to take trips like this.  Travel matters.  We are also very aware of what we missed!  Ha!  4 inches of snow (don't laugh Melanie), an ice storm, a state of emergency for the entire state, no school for three and a half days, and an earthquake!  As a friend of mine said, we could not have picked a better week to be gone!  Although, the earthquake would have been cool.

Thank you to Ima and Sheshy for keeping our furry family member happy with beach walks and tummy rubs!!

We are already discussing our next adventure and that alone thrills me!
