FOUR. Yes, FOUR!!!!

Luke turned four...a month ago...my blogging life/time has dwindled significantly this summer.  The days are long, the schedule is full, the author is exhausted!  Ha!

We have a four year old!  A FOUR year old!  Sweet heavens.  Once again we wobble between "Where has the time gone? I remember his birth day with extreme clarity and weren't we just living in a Victorian farmhouse in Amish country?"  to  "He is four.  Of course he is four.  Time has ticked and we have been present parents, involved parents, and we are lucky enough to live a life that allows us to be with him every single day to watch with open eyes as each day has gone by the last four years."

Luke, you are everything a four year old should be.  You are smart, clever, and curious.  You ask a million and seven questions every single day and I have already had to tell you "I don't know."...to which you always reply;  "Daddy will know."  You are kind, caring, and thoughtful.  You pick clovers for me and find "special" rocks for Daddy.  You pet Riggs over and over again during thunderstorms.  You are hilarious and witty.  You make up your own jokes and tell them with such confidence, you even have punch line timing down.  You are stubborn and persistent.  You have a frustration level that I can see coming a mile away.  You are passionate about superheroes, bugs, and maps.  Ellie is the answer to most any problem and your stuffed animals have become your students, your children, your friends...you spend countless hours "teaching" them what you know.  Your love of books is unwavering and your memory astounds us.  Everyday.  We love you beyond measure and we are thankful every single day that we get to be your parents, what an incredible blessing.  We love you infinity!

No joke, Luke had 5 different birthday shindigs.  Excessive...and Awesome!

Ima and Sheshy came to celebrate and Luke chose a fishing theme.

Cute, right?!  We are all about the homemade but Pinterest is my new best friend!

My favorite four year old!

Luke had camp the week of his birthday so I tried to make his day special from beginning to end.  A birthday breakfast!

After camp we hit up Build a Bear!  It was great, we were the only people there and Luke enjoyed the extra attention.  He chose a dog (a German Shepherd) and named him Sniff.  Love!

Birthday #2 - just Team Tully.  Pizza for dinner.  Sheer joy after opening his gift of a 5 headed dragon!  Never in my life did I think I would be purchasing such a thing but that face?!?!  More love!

Birthday #3:  Dinner and Dessert with our dear and forever friends!  We cannot tell you how much the Bochat family means to us.  Luke is lucky to have 3 wonderful sisters!!

Cake #2:  Batman.  Clearly I should have worked on my bat artwork prior to decorating time but can you see the love that went into this?!?!  :)

Best Friends

The Bochats know our little man SO well!  An explorer outfit and gear!  Perfect!  The compass still goes on every single car trip with us.

I had to put this one in here.  Hilarious! The lovely and wonderful and thoughtful and perfect Retey family got Luke a tin can robot kit.  He LOVED it (understatement!).  However, the ONLY can we had was a BudLight can.  Parents of the year...right here!

Birthday #4:  Chuck E. Cheese with our best buddy, Daniel!  These boys go nuts for some racing games and mole smashing.

And finally...Birthday #5:  Frozen Yogurt with the men!

Luke and Jacob...savoring every last bit of fro yo!!

Luke (and we) are extremely blessed to have so many awesome, caring, and thoughtful people in our lives! We thank you all for the calls, emails, texts, cards, gifts, and time you gave to Luke to celebrate him.

Happy 4th Birthday, Luke!  Thank you for being exactly who you are!!
