Luke is gaining his independence and it is such a bittersweet thing! When he first started walking he hated (I mean HATED) to have his hands held. I briefly thought that there was going to be some lifelong hand phobia thing but then one day he wanted to hold my hand...all the time...even just going from our front porch to the driveway. I loved it. Now it is a struggle again....not because his hand phobia is back but because he wants to do everything "all by my own self." I get it and I encourage it (except in parking lots---yes, I am that mom who is holding her kid's forearm instead of his hand because I can get a better grip and he can't wiggle away as easily). Here are a few pictures of our little guy at Busch Gardens going on some rides (although he is very picky about which ones) all by his own self!!!
Okay, so this isn't a ride but he is so stinkin' cute! (I am referring to Luke, although the tortoise is lookin' pretty good too).
The motorcycle ride. This shocked me because it actually goes pretty fast and is kind of jerky but I didn't argue. He has to sit in the back because his feet don't reach the floor in the front seat (park rules). Both seats have a horn so he didn't care one bit. :)
See...pretty fast for a not yet 2.5 year old!
The ride coming to an end. Facial muscles seem more relaxed - a good sign. He is so expression-less on these rides. In fact, I think the spends most of his time trying to figure out how they work. L took him on the carousel and Luke spent 90% of the ride looking up and watching the pole go up and down.
Kiddie train. Strangers in the front. Luke watching the tracks.
Luke in the back...waving. I asked him to "wave to Mommy" on about the second lap and he continued to wave continuously for the 3rd and 4th laps. :)
